I bought mine used, and I was told by the state that it
does require inspection just like any other moped.
I got mine inspected, they look at 4 things, headlights, reflectors, horn,
etc. and it costs $7.50.
There may be a special law that says electric
mopeds are exempt, but if so the bureaucrats at DOT and
Travis County Tax Office don't know about it.
The EVT4000e is not in the NADA database, so
they don't have any information about this vehicle.
It's true, of course, that new vehicle do not require
inspection. A couple years later when you have to renew the
registration, you have to get an inspection as well
just like for a car.
