Its good for all the NEW Ego riders to understand that there is a 4-6 hour break-in period for a new ego motor to allow the brushes to seat against the commutator. This means driving very easy, no big hills or fast accelerating. We have seen that folks who didn't do the break-in driving occasionally had an issue with a brush not seated right.
As with any new product, while it is under warranty, you need to contact the dealer it was bought from to avoid doing anything that could void the warranty.
One of the many great features about the Ego Cycles is low maintenance on the motor. You should not need to clean the brushes any time soon. We have found a few of the motors that had a couple of the connectors too close which could possibly arc. In any case, this is something the dealer needs to document for Ego and fix while the product is in its warranty period.
