Re:more complete ego manual - 2006/07/27 17:16
hey jac, I hope you are enjoying your eGO. I just got one a while back, and I don't think I'm going too far by saying that it has changed the way I do *everything*. I haven't had any flats yet, and I ride the heck out of the thing. my tires were pretty low when I bought it, but I pulled them up to within 10psi of the recommended after a few rides. I then went out and promptly purchased a suspension seat post. makes a *huge* difference. I've heard a lot of people complaining about flats, so I was thinking about throwing a liner in, but I figure I will just try to wait it out until I have to change tires (which I'm about to have to do after only having the thing for a couple of months).
anyways, I've taken the thing apart several times, and I've got a few tips that may help you out. first off, just throw that little tool that comes with the scooter into your saddle bag and save it for a rainy day. go at the thing with a good set of tools, and you will save yourself a headache. when you remove the motor mount screws that come in from the bottom plate, notice that one is longer than the others. mark this one. write it down. actually, in my experience, all of the holes were a bit "off", and it was much easier to put the bolts back into the exact holes that they came out of (on those four). make sure you have a good bench or something along those lines to rest the scooter on while you are working on it. I found that a dolly set upside down works very well for me.
best of luck -t
