Austin TX.
Jan 30 2003 Opened first store at 910 S. 1st Street in Austin TX. Austin 's first scooter boutique, complete with our line of electric scooters & accessories. We add the Alien Scooter 350 & 450 Rads with long range removeable battery packs & heavy duty rear racks making these ideal commuter scooters.
Feb 2003 Tsunami Cycles owner, Dave Barrientos, arranges for us to access
bike/scooter parts & accessory supplier, J&B Importers.
March 2003 SXSW (South by Southwest) Music festival. SXSW official use several of our scooters to supervise shows along 6th Street venues and trek between stages at the main show site at Auditorium Shores . Our evening display and scooter demo during 3 nights of free shows introduces electric scooters to thousands of Austinites.
April 2003 Alien Scooters relocates to a larger, 3000sq.ft. showroom & repair
center at 1122 S. Lamar Blvd. in south Austin.
April 2003 Rad2Go (Global Manufacturing) adds their line of durable,
aluminum decked racing scooters to our product line.
April 2003 E-Bike (EV Global Motors) introduces their line of 24V & 36V
Heinzmann Hub motor Electric Bikes with a complete touring kit, a folding bike & electric trike adding more choices in LEVs at Alien Scooters.
April 2003 Alien Scooters rallies with demonstrations of electric scooters,
electric bikes & an electric moped at our booth at the Austin Parks Fest.
Next day: We display our products & information and demo scooters & E-Bikes
at the Earth Day Festival along with Austin Energy's alternative energy sources
display and the Light Rail proponents.
May 2003 Vego (E-Mobile) joins the Alien Scooters team with their advanced,
portable sleek scooters. Body design by Porsche, the SX 600 comes with plug & play batteries and utilizes one of the first PWM controllers.
June 2003 Schwinn, Mongoose & GT 600watt full suspension & long range
scooters manufactured by Currie Technologies adds a new dimension of high
performance, hill climbing scooters to the Alien Scooters selection.
August 2003 University of Texas show along West Mall to 50,000 UT Students and Faculty. In an environment where parking spaces come at a premium, there was lots of interest in smaller, foldable scooters; especially for dorm & apartment
dwellers.
September 2003 We participate in a series of displays at 3 Austin Community
College Campuses where 40,000+ students get an opportunity to talk with Alien Scooters co-owner Daniel White as he demonstrates Vego, E-Bike and other scooters.
September 2003 Alien Scooters joins the Green Choice program of Austin Energy to become clean energy partner. We receive recognition by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) as both a participant in the Green Choice program and and as a Green Business resource providing totally non-polluting transportation choices to the public and industry.
October 11/12 2003 The National Green Festival held in Austin Texas at the Austin Convention Center presented more than 275 exhibitors including Alien Scooters with our team zipping around the Center on an E-Bike Folding Mini and Mongoose Hornet electric scooter. Our team discusses the benefits of electric transportation to more than 100,000 visitors to the Festival.
November 12 2003 Alien Scooters owner Ann McSpadden participates in Austin Energy's presentation to the Resource Management Commission of its impressive new Resource Plan designed to shift energy consumption to 20%+ renewable energy sources by 2020. As the discussion shifted to the increase for the Solar Rebate Program, we spoke to the council about our individual solar charger for the electric scooters & bikes and our low-impact, non-polluting transportation solutions.
February 2004 Alien Scooters talks with Clara Tuma of KVUE TV Austin about the legal status of electric scooters and bikes on Austin roads. Our pro-active scooter owner, Nick Pappatonis negotiates with Capital Metro, Austin 's public transportation system, to allow all electric bikes and scooters to ride on the front rack of buses.
March 2004 In the ongoing search for better batteries with more range, we partner with Peter Guggenheim of Valence Technologies , a local Austin company that is developing a stable Lithium ion battery system which may revolutionize electric transportation. Working to expand the market for these batteries we introduce Valence to Currie Technologies, E-Bike, WaveCrest Labs and NuMotion.
April 2004 We unveil WaveCrest Labs' TidalForce M-750 at our South Lamar location, inviting the Austin and surrounding area to come and test ride this extraordinary 750watt electric bike with the folding Paratrouper frame by Montague.
May 2004 Alien Scooters joins with WaveCrest Labs to demonstrate the power and endurance of the TidalForce M-750 at the National IPMBA Conference in San Antonio . Alien Scooters owner Ann McSpadden along with WaveCrest Labs' Suzette St. Charles and Kevin Rhoades discuss the abilities of the TidalForce products to help mountainbiking police, parks police, security forces and EMS medical teams.
WaveCrest introduces its beautiful TidalForce Crusier, the iO and the iO step-thru electric bikes; an incredibly comfortable bicycle with the same adaptive motor system.
